Locker Room Policy

WHA and WHC adheres to USA Hockey’s SafeSport Program to help protect its participants from physical abuse, sexual abuse and other types of misconduct, including emotional abuse, bullying, threats, harassment and hazing. To help prevent abuse or misconduct from occurring in our locker rooms, WHA/WHC has adopted the following locker room policy. This policy is designed to maintain personal privacy as well as to reduce the risk of misconduct in locker rooms. When WHA/WHC teams visit another arena, all participants associated with the WHA/WHC will follow the Locker Room Policies of that arena as well as all WHA/WHC policies listed below.

  • Only players, coaches, certified safe sport volunteers or in the case of younger children or injuries, the parent of a child in need, are allowed in the assigned locker room.
  • An adult may not be alone with a player in the locker room other than their own child or in case of emergency. Either two background screen/Safe Sport trained locker room monitors must be present, or one adult with multiple players.
  • For co-ed locker rooms, minimum attire is required in the locker room at all times. Players must arrive at the rink with their base layers on or shorts and t-shirt. If a player is not wearing the required minimum attire, that player needs to use the restroom or private area to change into his/her minimum attire before entering the locker room.
  • Cell phones may not be used in the locker room, unless in case of emergency.
  • Use of recording equipment in the locker rooms is strictly forbidden. This includes cameras, video cameras, cell phones, or any other media collecting device.
  • Any music played in the locker room that can be heard by others must be radio playable and not include sexist or racist language.
  • Players should be respectful and courteous to teammates, coaches, rink employees, and volunteers.
  • Players should not touch one another in the locker room.
  • Players should be respectful of others’ property. Do not touch others’ property unless specifically asked by them to do so.
  • Players are not allowed to enter a locker room that has been assigned to another team.
  • Players are discouraged from bringing valuables and extra belongings into the locker rooms.
  • All Rink facilities are to be treated with respect, care and pride.
  • Players are responsible for use/cleanliness of the locker rooms and any adjoining bathroom/shower areas.
  • Witnesses to any violations are required to report incident(s) to a WHA/WHC Coach, Team Manager, or Board Member.
